Mon – Fri: 10.00am – 4.30pm
Sat: - 8.30 am – 12.00 Midday
Sunday and Public Holidays – CLOSED.
ANIMAL AMBULANCE: Our Animal Ambulance is available to attend to any animal emergency. Although not vets, our staff are fully trained in all aspects of animal first aid and will convey an injured animal to the nearest veterinary clinic when necessary. This service operates 24 hrs a day, 365 days of the year. There is no charge to the caller, unless you are requesting the ambulance for your own animal.
ANIMAL WELFARE INSPECTORS: If you would like to make a complaint of animal cruelty please ring our office and talk to one of the lovely ladies! All complaints will be checked out and its completely confidential.
LOST & FOUND ANIMALS: Our office keeps a register of all lost and found animals and can give advice on what to do should you lose or find an animal. This register is advertised daily on local radio stations and twice weekly in the Otago Daily Times. There are Lost Pet Poster Templates available for you to download from our Downloads section. ANIMAL ADOPTIONS: If you are interested in adopting any animal from us the best first step is to come up and see us and see if we have the right pet for you!You will find a list of our prices on the Adopt a Pet page on this site .Also please note that if you rent your property we do require landlord permission. Also you can check out our Adopt A Pet section by Clicking here . This section is updated weekly but as there are new animals coming in all the time there may be animals available for adoption that are not yet listed on this site.
ANIMAL SURRENDERS: Before signing over any animal to us please make sure you have made your best efforts to find it a home as we can not rehome all animals we get (as much as we would love to) Try placing ads in local paper, vet clinics/pet shops and local shops, ask friends and family.
We should be a last resort. Please note we will never turn an animal away, we are here to help. If you are signing over your pet please bring it to us between our open hours and bring any medical records i.e vaccination records you may have and please let us know of any history your pet has as this all helps the rehoming process.
ANIMAL CARE: There are many pamphlets available from our office on care of animals. All animals require food, water and shelter, and will need to see a vet from time to time.Treat your pet as you wish to be treated. Or check out our About your pet section by Clicking here
BECOME A MEMBER: If you would like to be a member of the Otago SPCA please come get a membership form from our office or you can ring us and we will gladly send you one!
JUNIOR LEAGUE: Junior League is open to anyone under 16, membership forms are available from office. Members receive regular newsletters with fun activities and advice on caring for pets as well as competitions. There is also an annual trip to an animal location in Dunedin as well as a group trip to the Haven with a talk from our manager. Check out our Junior League section by Clicking here
EDUCATION: We operate an education program available to all schools throughout Otago and would welcome the opportunity to talk to your school. We are also available to talk to clubs and service groups, and welcome visits to our Animal Haven.
STRAY/FERAL CATS: Cat traps are available for hire and our staff will explain how to operate them and what to do when you have caught a cat.Please note that there maybe a waiting list on these as Dunedin is a big place!
DOG WALKING: For a complete list of where you can or can not take your dog please consult www.cityofdunedin.com search Dog exercise areas. In the following areas dogs do not need to be on a leash providing they are under control.
